Residential Construction
Building or expanding a home is one of the most personal investments you can make, and we treat it as such. Our Residential Construction service begins with an in-depth consultation where we learn about your family's lifestyle, aesthetic preferences, and long-term goals. We guide you through site assessments, design options, and material selections, ensuring the final plan reflects your unique needs.
Throughout construction, our project managers oversee every trade, from foundation pouring and framing through roofing, insulation, and interior finishes. We provide transparent timelines, detailed budgets, and weekly status reports so you always know where your project stands. Our skilled craftsmen handle cabinetry, tile work, hardwood flooring, and trim with the same care they would apply in their own homes.
When the dust settles, you'll move into a home that combines lasting quality with thoughtful design. Every fixture, finish, and structural element meets rigorous standards for durability and comfort. And because we manage communication, permits, inspections, and punch-list items, you can enjoy a truly turnkey experience, one that delivers peace of mind as well as a beautiful new home.
From custom homes to large additions, Construction Crafters builds residential projects across San Diego that are engineered to last and finished with care. We are a family-owned, CSLB-licensed general contractor, and we treat your home the way we would treat our own: clean job sites, clear communication, and a single point of contact from the first walkthrough to the final inspection.

Frequently asked questions
- 01
How much does it cost to build or add on to a home in San Diego?
Custom homes typically run $400 to $700 or more per square foot, and additions $350 to $600 per square foot, depending on finishes, site conditions, and structural scope. After a site visit we give you an itemized estimate with clear allowances so you can see exactly where the budget goes.
- 02
Do I need permits for a home addition?
Almost always. Structural additions, new square footage, and most layout changes require permits from the City or County of San Diego. We handle the submittals, plan check, and inspections as part of the job.
- 03
How long does a residential project take?
A room addition may take 3 to 5 months; a full custom home is typically 9 to 16 months including design and permitting. We give you a milestone schedule before work begins.
- 04
Do you build on hillside or coastal lots?
Yes. We coordinate soils reports, structural engineering, and, where required, Coastal Development Permits, and we plan access and shoring realistically so hillside work does not surprise you mid-project.
- 05
Who schedules the city inspections?
We do. Every stage that requires a city inspection, foundation, framing, rough mechanical and electrical, insulation, and final, is scheduled and attended by our team, and we do not close up work until the inspector has signed it off. You never have to chase the city yourself.
- 06
Can you build from plans I already have?
Yes. We can price and build from your existing architectural plans, or coordinate design and engineering from scratch if you are starting fresh.
- 07
Will I have one point of contact?
Yes. You work directly with our team throughout, with regular updates and a single person accountable for the schedule, budget, and quality.
